College Essay Development

Amanda was my Government/Economics teacher as a senior in high school, and she was also my basketball coach for two years. When it came time to start looking for colleges, Ms. Levin helped me choose a school that would be the right fit for me. She took time to learn about my strengths and preferences, before writing me what I can only imagine was a powerful and heartfelt letter of recommendation. She guided me to what turned out to be the school where I ended up returning for a Master’s degree: The University of San Diego (B.A. 2003 and M.A. 2015). She suggested I ask my parents to take me to the campus to get to know the everyday culture of the university (something I know she would have arranged, had we not had the resources to do so).
